De-Programming Evangelism

Door to door evangelism was the form of evangelism in my younger years. In the past twenty years we have seen a wave of evangelism programs sweep our local church movements in an attempt to better equip and motivate the body.  Why is this not working?  What will it take to see the body of Christ consistently and effectively share their faith to an apathetic world?
