Pray for Moscow
March 29, 2010 – 1:17 pmPlease pray for residents of Moscow, and Russia as a whole, as they grieve over the deaths of dozens of people in a subway terrorist act which shocked the center portion of the city today.
No doubt this will provide opportunities for the gospel to be communicated by believers in Russia, especially due to the significance of this week on the Christian calendar.
Here are a few items that we should consider in prayer:
- That Russian believers, especially in Moscow, will wisely connect their conversations about this incident with family, co-workers, neighbors, and friends to the gospel. Specifically, that they will explain the connection between the innocent death of the victims of this attack and the innocent death of Jesus on the cross; and the pending judgment of God on every person for their sin and God’s complete judgment of sin which Jesus bore on the cross.
- That God will open the eyes of Russian Muslims to the error of their religion and the true hope in Jesus Christ. Many surmise that this attack is connected to Muslim extremists in the Caucasus region of Russia.
- That Russian citizens, believers and non-believers, will not place their trust in material wealth, health, or anything that this world offers. But that they will trust in Christ alone for salvation, hope, and peace.
- That God would grant foreign missionaries who are ministering in Russia abundant open doors to communicate the love of Christ with their neighbors, friends, and contacts.
Probably the best way that we can pray for them is to remember the gospel-centered prayers we prayed and/or heard directly after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
