Missionary Questionnaires
May 28, 2009 – 3:51 pmDave Hosaflook, a missionary who blogs (among other things) over in Albania, posted a helpful word concerning questionnaires churches send missionaries. He includes a questionnaire that his family received from a supporting church as a helpful model. He explains that
missionaries love being asked about their work, but I’ve often wondered if there is a better way to handle some of these questionnaires. Then, out-of-the-blue, we received one that was so refreshing, so are, that my wife and I literally wept. Sure, it contained a lot of info-type questions which a church really must ask, but it also showed a heart for missionaries, an understanding of missions, and a desire for relationship.
Read the questionnaire.

Pastors ought to take this type of counsel to heart. There are many missionaries that strive for a healthy balance between silently enduring foibles of supporting churches and gently instructing them about how they could better support cross-cultural workers.
I thank God for men like Dave who wisely challenge churches here in the States regarding how we can best serve them. But we ought not wait for our missionaries to offer this information. We ought to take the initiative and find out how we can best minister to their needs. This must be our delightful duty as senders!
