Conference for Missions Techies

May 27, 2009 – 3:49 pm

I just heard about the International Conference on Computing and Missions (ICCM) coming up in a couple of weeks. Seems like a helpful event for those desiring to hone their computer skills for service. The home page summarizes its purpose:

The International Conference on Computing and Mission (ICCM) is an annual informal (NO ties allowed) gathering of women and men who have a common interest in computers and mission. We share a vision cooperation for effective use of technology bringing the Gospel to every nation.

Specs (that’s techie abbreviation for “specifications”):

  • June 12-16, 2009*
  • Taylor University, Upland, IN
  • Cost: $250 on site (dormitory housing); $160 for commuters (no housing)
  • Deadline for registration: May 29th - 2 Days from today

ICCM also has a Mission Tech wiki that is worth checking out, for those who are so inclined.

*I am getting a little frustrated at how many Christian conferences that I have seen recently that extend to Sundays. Often they have a service of some type on site, as this one does. But is that really supposed to be a substitute for a local church? If you attend this one, please find a solid local church in the area and fellowship with a local assembly. (Okay, I’ll get off my hobby horse now!)
