Entrusting the Truth to “Faithful Men”

November 10, 2008 – 11:04 am

Greetings from India! While you are starting your day over in the USA, we are finishing up a full day of teaching and preaching here in India with some of our partners in ministry.

I am over here with Dr. Claude Wiggins of our seminary (DBTS), teaching a seminary course, preaching and doing sessions for a pastor’s conference.

When I have the opportunity to visit these men and their ministries with which we have partnered, I am reminded of the text: “And concerning you, my brethren, I myself also am convinced that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able also to admonish one another” (Romans 15:14). The Indian men here are burdened to plant churches to reach their people. They are diligent students who want to make the effort to adequately prepare to pastor churches. They are Spirit-filled and enabled to carry out the work of the ministry. I am thankful for their commitment to the Great Commission.

Pray for these Bible-believing pastors in India, especially as they confront the charismatic movement. The evangelical church is chock full of charismatic influence. Seldom will one find (from what I am told) an evangelical who will speak against the charismatics. However, God is raising up men, some who formerly went to charismatic schools, who recognize the dangers of the movement and who are committed to having truth-based ministries rather than emotional, man-centered ministries.

Overall, pray for the gospel to spread rapidly and be glorified in India!
