Argentina Conference 1
October 6, 2008 – 8:08 amGreetings from Argentina! Pastor David Doran and I are down here to minister in the “Fundamentalismo Bautista Biblico XXV,” an annual conference for independent Baptists from the southern part of South America. The conference has been hosted in Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This year it is being hosted in Buenos Aires the capital city of Argentina. We are thankful for the opportunity to meet so many faithful servants of the Lord. The conference will be held Tuesday through Thursday.
One of characteristics about David that I appreciate so much is that even though he has travelled to many countries and has written a book on the theology and philosophy of missions he does not express a “know-it-all” attitude. Before we exited the plane in Buenos Aires he turned to me (I grew up as an MK in Argentina) and said, “Now you are going to be my cultural broker, correct? Make sure you will let me know if I do anything offensive to anybody.” He is a humble man that does not assume he knows or understands ministry in other cultures. (See his MM posts on “Visiting the Mission Field”: I, II, III, IV) He listens, analyzes, and runs everything through the grid of theology. I am thankful for a missions-minded pastor.
